Storyline

The storyline of GTA San Andreas begins with Carl “CJ” Johnson returning to his hometown of Los Santos after five years away in Liberty City. His return is prompted by the devastating news of his mother’s death in a shooting. CJ visits his old gang, the Grove Street Families, which has been weakened and fragmented by drugs, the Ballas, and police corruption. Together with his brother Sweet and old friends like Ryder and Big Smoke, CJ attempts to revive his old gang. However, he is betrayed by those closest to him and framed by corrupt police, forcing him to flee to the countryside.

Outside of Los Santos, CJ expands his power and influence. He aids Triads, opens a garage in San Fierro, and even runs a casino with Woozie in Las Venturas. Along the way, he uncovers a larger drug and crime network and slowly builds power and wealth. Eventually, CJ returns to Los Santos to avenge Big Smoke and Tenpenny’s betrayal, restore Grove Street to its former glory, and reunite his family. The game’s storyline revolves around betrayal, power, and CJ’s struggle to defend his family.
