Storyline

In 1964, the world was in the midst of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. Naked Snake, an American secret agent, is sent on a Virtuous Mission to rescue Sokolov, a Soviet scientist who wants to defect. Sokolov is being forced to develop the Shagohod, a mobile nuclear-powered tank that could change the global power game. Snake must stealthily infiltrate a Soviet military base deep in the wilderness, evade detection by enemy patrols, and rescue Sokolov before the Shagohod project is completed, in order to safeguard world peace from the threat of nuclear weapons.

However, the mission takes an unexpected turn when The Boss, Snake’s mentor and mother, unexpectedly betrays the Soviet Union. She also hands over two Davy Crockett nuclear missiles to Colonel Volgin, an ambitious Soviet officer. He then uses one of the missiles to destroy a Soviet research facility, blaming the United States for the attack. An international crisis ensues, threatening nuclear war. To prevent escalation, Snake is sent back on Operation Snake Eater with a daunting task: to kill The Boss, destroy the Shagohod, and retrieve evidence to clear America’s name. This mission requires extreme caution and is highly dangerous.
